MUDDY JERSEY, 2024

When a Kit Becomes a Protest

In May 2024, Rio Grande do Sul faced its worst environmental disaster in history. Floods devastated cities, displaced thousands, and left deep scars across the state. Amid this tragedy, Sport Club Internacional was forced to play the Brazilian football tournament, while their families and fans were still facing the impacts of the disaster.

But they didn’t just show up. They made a statement.

We transformed the club’s iconic red jersey into a symbol of resilience. Players took the field wearing kits stained with mud, mirroring the reality back home. It wasn’t just a design choice; it was a powerful protest, a call for solidarity, and a reminder that the disaster was far from over.

The initiative sparked national attention. The “Muddy Jersey” became a rallying cry, leading to a virtual auction of the game-worn shirts, with all proceeds directed to flood relief efforts. It was more than a match; it was a moment where sport transcended the pitch, turning a uniform into a voice for the voiceless.
